This week at the market

The rain and heat have taken a toll on cucumbers and tomatoes. I’m harvesting and selling only the ones that are “pretty” enough and the rest get cut up and used in soups and sauces. Waste not! Cucumber and squash plants are looking straggly so replanting some of those to get another crop.
The pumpkin patch is going bananas still though :)
Have a great week and thank you for your orders!!

Summer Update

We are happy to be getting all this rain – everything is growing well! Even those weeds :/ We have planted more beans and tomatoes to keep the crop going through fall. New beds of lettuces, spinach and chard have been planted to replace the ones that have bolted in the heat. Berries are a bit soggy so I will put any extra in the stand on Saturday during pick up. Remember to check the “Extras” cooler each Saturday as I will put any extra quantities of baked goods, soups and salads in there – anything that requires cooling.
Thanks again to all of you that return containers and cartons and jars! I like to keep reusing to keep costs lower and reduce waste. I try to add $1 for each bag you return – if I missed your account credit please let me know. Not all bags have a name on them for me to know.

Have a great week!

New this week – Blueberries! We were able to speak to the folks that own the former “Blueberry Hill” where we used to go picking years ago. They have agreed to sell a small amount of berries for purchase! Get them while you can! We’ll use some in our scones if you’d like to sample them that way, too!

Tomatoes are still spotty in ripening so not enough to preorder again. I’ve replanted a bunch of crops as the Japanese beetles have wreaked havoc this year!

If you’ve picked up your orders and noticed the sunflower patch – it has really bloomed now! Below is the pumpkin patch. There are white caspers, and other coming in. I’ve just planted more so we should have a great fall harvest!

Have a great week!

Better Late than Never!

Sorry we got a late start on opening this week! I’m going to use the holiday as my excuse LOL :)
We’ve reached the end of our lettuces so they’ve been pulled and fed to the chickens. Many of the garden plots have been amended and planted with another round of squash and tomatoes, sweet potato starts, pumpkins, and more greens! Okra has started coming in, but not enough to fill orders so look for those and tomatoes in the stand when you pick up.
Thanks!

Happy Summer!

Summer is here and the tomatoes are starting to ripen! I won’t have them available for preorder until they are coming in steadily, but will have them on the table during pickup if there are enough. I taste tested a few cherry and a Black Krim (heirloom variety) and they are delicious!
Welcome to all the new customers we picked up recently! I hope you enjoy what we have! If you ever have a request for a particular dish you’d like to see or repeated, just let me know! Otherwise, I like to change the offerings weekly to keep you trying new things!
The market boxes sold well last week – please give me some feedback – I know there were a lot of duplicates because some people ordered what was already in the market box. Would you like me to add baked or prepared foods to it and make a $30 box?
Thank you all for returning cans, jars, containers, and egg cartons – I appreciate that so much!!
Have a great week!

This Week at the Market

Good morning!
I will be flying out of town Friday to take my youngest to a camp in DC for the week. He’s too young to navigate airports himself – especially Atlanta’s! I miss the old days where you could walk people to the gate….

So I will not have prepared orders this week, but will have the stand stoked before I go. I will put out a few heads of lettuce, swiss chard, and plenty of cucumbers and squash.

Next week I will have lots of great new recipes for you like Zoodles, pickles, salads and an amazing cold cucumber soup!
Have a great week!

Wet Week

Look like we’re in for a wet week! Good for all the veggies that are coming in now! The onions are ready to harvest this week – I will sell a few of them fresh, and the rest will go into the barn to be cured. I have pickling cucumbers that are ready that I will process for the stand this week, then will be available by the pound next week. Crisp muncher cukes will be in the stand as I am not sure how many I will have yet for pre-order. Beans are coming in now too. Watch the market on Wednesday and I will update quantities available.
With graduation behind us, I should be back to normal on prepared foods.
Have a wonderful week!

Closed this week for preorders - stand open

We will be closed for preorders this week as my daughter’s graduation party is this weekend and I have family coming in to town.
I WILL have the stand stocked this week and weekend! there are plenty of eggs – now only $3 per dozen until they slow down laying. The squash have started coming in – there will be zucchini, yellow squash, and patty pan. The bush beans are now starting so there will be small quantities of those as well.
I should have some plums left and plum jam. I did some sweet tart green jam and sweet ripe plum jam. YUM!
Carrots will be pre-order the following week. Onions are almost ready and will go in the barn to cure. I’ll have a few with greens attached for purchase in the stand next week as well.
Enjoy this cool weather before the heat returns!
